Select - Changing to Alliance

Concord AYSO's Select Program is changing to Alliance. Program offers an opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated players from our 10U-14U Fall Program a more competitive but still recreational opportunity to play more soccer.

Players need to try-out for the Alliance program, but we are also collecting application/interest information. If your U10 to U14 child is interested in participating in Alliance, please complete the survey by November 15, 2022.

TRYOUTS will be held 10 am-1 pm, November 19 at Westwood Elementary Field.
10U & 12U - 10-11 am - arrive for check-in at 9:30 am
14U - 11 am-noon (possibly 1 pm, depending on number of attendees) - arrive for check-in at 10:30 am

After tryouts are completed, players are then chosen, teams formed and announced in late November. Training sessions typically start the first week of December. The Alliance program game schedule runs from January through early June, including participation in tournaments. Some travel will be involved.

PARTICIPATION
All players (10U and up) are encouraged to apply/try-out. With the switch to Alliance, players do not have to have played in the Fall program to play in the Alliance program. Although you may only participate in the same division that you participated in during the Fall Core program.

The number of teams formed in each division varies from year to year. As a rule, there is one Select team for every four Fall Core program teams in each division. Select teams will travel more than fall teams, as the region could play teams from Davis, American Canyon, and Manteca, as well as Winters, Capay, and Antelope (possibly others - this varies from year to year).

A higher level of commitment is expected from both the players AND the parents. Select is for enthusiastic and motivated players, for the purposes of player development. A player is expected to regularly attend training sessions and games. Parents are also expected to participate in league organization, particularly in the running of the Concord Cup (mid May) to which Concord AYSO is a Host.

REGISTRATION
Try-outs are held in early October. For interested players, applications for the Select Season typically open in mid-September. If interested, you must log into your Blue Sombrero account and click on the Select Try-out program button.

FEES
The Alliance program is a self-funded. The fees collected by each team offsets the cost of field rental fees and other incidental expenses. Uniforms will be purchase via a Score link. Uniforms are expected to cost $65.90 and will consist of two jerseys, two pairs of shorts and socks,  Players are expected to participate in several tournaments with the actual number based on the coach's preference and scheduling requirements. You can expect to participate in anywhere from 4-6 tournaments. The tournament registration costs will vary, but can run anywhere from $45-$60 per player per tournament. You will need to account for other incidental travelling costs such as gas, food, and lodging depending on the location of the tournament. Team fund-raising / sponsorship requests are encouraged.
